In 1912, Mr. S. Sanappa tried his hand in planting a few coffee beans supplied by a friendly neighbor. Passion and perseverance paid off – the beans thrived in the temperate, Coorg climate. Now four generations later, his great-grandson, Mr. Ganesh, carries on his legacy in tending to Shirangala Estate.
Sustainability and ecological preservation ever-present, Shirangala’s coffee is intercropped amongst pepper and a plethora of fruits including oranges, blackberries, and guavas. Roughly 35 different native varieties of trees and several species of birds call this place home; most special, though, is the elusive, gentle giant of the forest, the Asiatic elephant.
Balancing both traditional and modern techniques, careful attention is paid to handpick only the ripest coffees, which are then washed and laid to dry under natural sunlight. Wild-life friendly and constantly improving upon quality, we are excited to share this single-origin coffee with you.LOCATION
